Queer as Folke — Social Policy & Community Rules
Last updated: September 2026
Welcome to Queer as Folke — a community channel from Folkestone Pride, sharing LGBTQ+ events, news, activities, support and community updates across Folkestone & Hythe.
Our aim is simple: to help people discover what’s happening locally and connect with the LGBTQ+ community in a safe, welcoming and inclusive space.
To keep it that way, we ask everyone who interacts with Queer as Folke to follow these guidelines.
🏳️🌈 Be kind and respectful
Queer as Folke is for everyone in our LGBTQ+ community and our allies.
We do not tolerate:
-
Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia or other anti-LGBTQ+ abuse
-
Racism, sexism, misogyny or discrimination of any kind
-
Hate speech, slurs or derogatory language
-
Personal attacks, bullying, harassment or intimidation
-
Threats or encouragement of violence
-
Deliberately misgendering or deadnaming someone
-
Content intended to shame, humiliate or target an individual or group
You can disagree with someone without being disrespectful.
💬 Keep it constructive
We welcome conversation, different opinions and healthy debate, particularly around local LGBTQ+ issues.
However, comments or messages may be removed where they become abusive, discriminatory, threatening, deliberately inflammatory or otherwise harmful to the community.
